Product Description

The Chinese Pudao, originally an infantry weapon, has been adopted into the martial arts and its use in the hands of a skilled practitioner is spectacular. Paul Chen Hanwei's Pudao is a weapon to be coveted by infantry of old and modern martial artists alike. The high-carbon tempered steel blade has an aggressive distal taper to promote quickness and balance and a long tang for strength, while the oak staff is tightly wrapped in a traditional pattern, which both optimizes handling and adds to the distinctive appearance, as do the dragon-head bronzed steel blade collar and bell tassel.

  1. Solidly built, tough and durable! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 25th Feb 2015

The Pudao is lighter than I thought. It feels nimble and agile. I was able to cut through several branches easily (needed firewood). Afterwards, I inspected the blade and there was no damage. So I decided to cut down some smaller trees and also stab some logs. The tassle/bead on the blade immediately broke off...which sucked because I thought it really helped the appearance. Also, it was a mistake on my part for not trying to remove it in the first place. Anyway, superglue got it back on. Stabbing with the blade was a bit worrisome as it did bend with enough force applied to it. But, no worries, as the blade sprung back into shape after each thrust. The circular butt end of the Pudao was able to smash through rocks and some drier and rotted logs with ease. Though the wrapping was discolored from the use I put it through it survived with next to zero damage. In the end the blade only received minor scratches. I'm actually pretty impressed by how well it did! My two cents? The Pudao is worth every penny. It is built great and looks fantastic.
